چکیده

We consider a cosmological domain wall model where the dark matter interacts nongravitationally with the walls. We find that the dark matter is quickly {as early as z = 100}swept up in wakes and voids, with the wakes growing with time in a self-similar manner. The dark matter wakes, of order 5h Mpc thick today, tug on the baryons, which also trail behind in wakes of similar thickness. We find that the peculiar motions induced are of the order of a few hundred km/s, coherent on a scale of order 20h Mpc. The baryon overdensities generated by the domain walls are distributed in a geometry similar to that of galaxy superclusters found in recent surveys.

Influence of confinement on obstacle-free turbulent wakes

Large-eddy simulations (LESs) of obstacle-free wakes, in a channel like geometry with an homogeneous transverse direction, are carried out in order to investigate the influence of confinement on turbulent wakes. The numerical solver makes use of a multi-domain Fourier–Chebyshev spectral method and the LES capability is implemented through a spectral vanishing viscosity technique. A top hat like...

Cosmic Walls and Filaments Formation in Modied Chaplygin Gas Cosmology

We want to study the perturbation growth of an initial seed of an ellipsoidal shape in Top-Hat collapse model of the structure formation in the Modied Chaplygin gas cosmology. Considering reasonable values of the constants and the parameters of the model under study, we can show that a very small deviation from spherical symmetry (ellipsoidal geometry) in the initial seed leads to a nal highly ...

Quantum Interference Control of Ballistic Magneto- resistance in a Magnetic Nanowire Containing Two Atomic- Size Domain Walls

The magnetoresistance of a one-dimensional electron gas in a metallic ferromagnetic nanowire containing two atomic-size domain walls has been investigated in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. The magnetoresistance is calculated in the ballistic regime, within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. It has been demonstrated that the conductance of a magnetic nanowire with double domain walls...

Production of sounds in distensible tubes.

• Although much has been written about the origins and transmission of heart sounds and murmurs, little is known regarding the generation of vibrations by disturbances of flow in liquids or the mechanisms by which vibrations in flowing liquids are coupled into surrounding distensible walls. Eddy formation and turbulence are generalry regarded as the sources of cardiovascular sounds. The possibl...

Employing Internal Flexible Wall as Mass Absorber in Tanks Subjected to Harmonic Excitations

The possibility of employing internal wall as mass absorber in rectangular water storage tanks subjected to harmonic ground motion excitation is investigated in this paper. Internal walls are used in these tanks usually for service performance purposes, which could be used as mass absorber to control seismic demand on tank's exterior walls. Derivation of the response of the coupled system inclu...
